On-Air Performance

Spartan 2 News is more than a class — it's an opportunity to report the stories that matter. Here I showcase my news packages and feature stories documenting achievements, events, and voices from my school and community. It is interesting to make connections with certain topics and people. For example, I served as lead reporter on the MBHS Teacher of the Year story for two years, providing ongoing coverage of the 2023–2024 selection process. I have also worked as an anchor, both news and sports, which has helped me grow in areas of communication and presentation.

News

My role as a reporter has allowed me to report on time-sensitive events that have had an a strong effect on many members of my community. I have learned how to conduct interviews surrounding sensitive topics and how to report on them in an honorable way. Throughout my time working as a reporter, I have also worked to improve my on-camera presence and editing skills.

Features

Over the past 3 years, I have been able to tell meaningful stories about a variety of topics and highlight different accomplishments throughout the community. Feature stories are a fun way to show creativity and highlight students for their outstanding efforts.

Anchoring & Presentation

As a news and sports anchor, I have grown into a confident on-air presenter -- sharpening my delivery, mastering live timing, and developing stronger storytelling instincts.

I've applied these presentation skills and my experience communicating information clearly to my application for the United States Senate Youth Program. And this year I was one of only two delegates from Alabama chosen to attend the conference in March.
